Yuanwei Liu

Prof. Yuanwei Liu is a Visiting Professor at the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Queen Mary University of London, and a tenured full Professor at the University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on 6G technologies, including Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), Next Generation Multiple Access (NGMA), and AI-driven communications. He leads the STAR LAB@QMUL and holds IEEE Fellow and AAIA Fellow distinctions.

Education: Ph.D. from Queen Mary University of London (2016). Prior roles include Senior Lecturer (2021–2024) and Lecturer (2017–2021) at QMUL, and Postdoctoral Fellow at King's College London (2016–2017).

Research interests span Pinching-Antenna Systems (PASS), Near-Field Communications/Sensing (NFC/NISE), and Mobile Edge Generation (MEG). He has advised over 30 PhD candidates and postdocs, with notable collaborations at institutions like Princeton University and Beihang University.

Key awards include the IEEE Heinrich Hertz Award (2024), Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher (2021–2024), and multiple best paper awards. He serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of IEEE ComSoc TC Newsletter and Area Editor of IEEE Transactions on Communications.
