Dr. Yu Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Hospital Medicine. She joined the faculty in 2021 and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Chen earned her bachelor's degree in biology from Duke University, a master's degree in medical science, and her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at Boston University Medical Center.
Her research focuses on gene therapy applications in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and metabolic disorders, with a particular emphasis on ultrasound-targeted microbubble destruction (UTMD) technology for targeted gene delivery. Key interests include myocardial regeneration, beta-cell regeneration in diabetes, and the pathogenesis of genetic disorders like Fabry disease.
