About
Dr. Yong Liu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Colorado Denver (UCD). He joined UCD in 2009 and conducts research on atmospheric aerosol chemistry, heterogeneous reactions, and environmental surface interactions. His work addresses implications for air quality, climate change, and public health.
Education
- B.S. Applied Chemistry, Fudan University (1997)
- Ph.D. Atmospheric Chemistry, University of Michigan (2005)
Research Focus
Dr. Liu's laboratory investigates chemical aging processes in atmospheric aerosols using advanced spectroscopic techniques. Key areas include:
- Ozone-driven transformation of aerosol properties
- Indoor surface chemistry interactions
- Gas-liquid partitioning equilibria
- Development of novel analytical methods for environmental chemistry
Student Advising
He mentors graduate and undergraduate researchers in experimental atmospheric chemistry, including thesis projects on reaction kinetics, Henry's Law measurements, and aerosol characterization techniques.
Teaching
Courses taught include: Analytical Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, Physical Chemistry Laboratory, and specialized topics in Atmospheric Chemistry.
