Dr Yize Wan is an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia at Queen Mary University of London, affiliated with the William Harvey Research Institute. She is a dual specialty registrar in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in London. Her research focuses on epidemiology of acute healthcare needs, socioeconomic and ethnic determinants, and data science using electronic health records to study long-term outcomes of critical illness. She holds editorial roles at the British Journal of Anaesthesia and BMJ Open.
Education: MBBS and PhD from the University of Nottingham. Awards include the Intensive Care Society New Investigator Award (2020) and Academy of Medical Sciences Starter Grant (2022). She collaborates with internal and external colleagues, including Prof Rupert Pearse and Dr Brij Patel (Imperial College London).
Teaching includes the Critical Care Medicine MSc and European Perioperative Intensive Care Curriculum Course. Her research addresses disparities in healthcare outcomes, particularly for disadvantaged groups, aiming to identify interventions through epidemiological and data-driven approaches.
