Ying Xin

Dr. Ying Xin is ARC DECRA Fellow and Senior Lecturer specializing in Sinophone Southeast Asian literature and cultural history at ANU. Her research examines Chinese diasporic communities through print culture archives, gender perspectives, and decolonial frameworks.

Research Projects: Current DECRA fellowship investigates 'Un/making homeland' through Cold War literary networks. Authored 'Revisiting Malaya' examining Nusantara political thought. Translator of Syed Hussein Alatas' 'The Myth of the Lazy Native' and Alfian Sa'at's 'Malay Sketches' (Lianhe Zaobao Top Ten Book Award 2020).

Community Engagement: Co-founded Rumah Attap Library & Collective in Kuala Lumpur. Research informs policy dialogues on multiculturalism through ANU Malaysia Institute where she serves as Deputy Director.
