The Ying Quartet is the Eastman String Quartet-in-Residence at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, where they lead chamber music programs and teach in the Department of Strings, Harp & Guitar. They also serve as the ensemble-in-residence at the Bowdoin International Music Festival and previously held the Blodgett Artists-in-Residence position at Harvard University (2001-2008).
Research & Projects: Their LifeMusic commissioning initiative, supported by the Institute for American Music, has expanded string quartet repertoire through works like Billy Childs' Awakening, Lera Auerbach's Sylvia's Diary, and Lowell Liebermann's To the Victims of War. They bridge classical traditions with community-focused performances, including collaborations with cellist Zuill Bailey and transcribed works like Schumann's Cello Concerto.

- Grammy Award nomination (2007) for Tchaikovsky Quartets and Souvenir de Florence recording
Discography: Notable releases include American Anthem (2013) and a Schumann recording (2016) on Sono Luminus. Their performances span global venues such as Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, and unconventional spaces like schools and prisons.
