About
Yevheniia Ishchenko is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale School of Medicine. Her research focuses on neurotransmitter release mechanisms, presynaptic plasticity, and their roles in neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) like autism spectrum disorder (ASD). She also investigates Alzheimer’s disease, pain pathways, and microglial biology using advanced techniques such as 2-photon imaging and mouse models.
Education:
- BSc: Applied Physics and Mathematics, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (2011)
- MSc: Applied Physics and Mathematics, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (2013)
- PhD: Molecular Medicine and Neuroscience, University of Eastern Finland (2017)
Research Interests:
- Neurotransmitter signaling in synaptic development
- Molecular mechanisms of ASD and NDDs
- Microglial response to Alzheimer’s pathology
- Pain modulation via P2X receptor pathways
Lab Affiliation: Dr. Anthony Koleske’s lab, where she aims to establish her own neuroscience research group.
