Yao Zhao serves as Studio Artist Teacher of Cello at San Diego State University's School of Music and Dance. As principal cellist of the San Diego Symphony, he maintains an active performance schedule of 170+ annual concerts globally, appearing at venues including Vienna Konzerthaus, Disney Hall, and Carnegie Hall.
Educational Background: Trained at China Central Conservatory before studying under Eleonore Schoenfeld at Idyllwild Arts Academy and USC Thornton School of Music on full scholarship.
Performance Career: Collaborates with major orchestras including Los Angeles Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony, and Shanghai Festival Orchestra. Premiered works by contemporary composers including Matthew Campbell.
