About
Dr Yannick Slade-Caffarel is a Lecturer in Economics and Philosophy at King's Business School, King's College London, where he also serves as Programme Director for the Business Management BSc. He is a member of the Social Ontology Research Unit and the Cambridge Social Ontology Group, reflecting his interdisciplinary engagement across philosophy, economics, and social theory.
His research centers on social ontology, particularly the development of a theory of social positioning, and spans the philosophy of social science, critical theory, and heterodox economics. Drawing on realist and critical frameworks, his work interrogates the foundations of social reality, organisational emergence, and the nature of economic thought.
His recent publications include a 2024 book, Cambridge Social Ontology: An Introduction to Social Positioning Theory, and articles in the Journal for the Theory of Social Behaviour and the Cambridge Journal of Economics. These works consistently explore themes such as rights and obligations in social structures, the emergence of organisations, and the philosophical underpinnings of heterodox economics.
