About
Xavier Banquy is a Full Professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Department of Chemistry at Université de Montréal. As Canada Research Chair in Bioinspired Materials, he develops advanced biomaterials for drug delivery and biomedical applications.
His research focuses on designing polymeric nanoparticles, bottlebrush polymers, and nanogels for targeted drug delivery (especially to joints and tumors), creating bioinspired lubricants for osteoarthritis treatment, and engineering smart hydrogels for tissue regeneration. Recent innovations include phytoglycogen nanolubricants, core-shell bottlebrush polymers for deep tissue penetration, and photothermal nanocarriers.
Dr. Banquy leads multiple collaborations through the TransMedTech Institute and directs projects on nanomedicine manufacturing, combination cancer therapies, and point-of-care diagnostics. His laboratory employs surface forces analysis, polymer synthesis, and in vivo models to develop translational biomedical solutions.
