Wolfgang Alschner

Dr. Wolfgang Alschner is a researcher at the University of Ottawa, specializing in computational analysis of international economic law. His work bridges international investment law, WTO law, and empirical legal analysis.

Before joining the University of Ottawa, he worked as an individual contractor for UNCTAD’s Section on International Investment Agreements and held research fellow positions at the Graduate Institute in Geneva and the World Trade Institute in Bern, Switzerland. His research explores textual patterns in bilateral investment treaties and trade agreements, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and CETA.

He co-developed the Mapping BITs website, which uses computational tools to analyze treaty networks and provide comparative insights. His expertise combines legal scholarship with data-driven methodologies.
