About
Associate Professor Wojciech Chaładaj leads a scientific research group focused on organic synthesis and catalysis. His team includes Dr. eng. Maciej Dajek (Assistant), PhD students Shamoon Hassan, Prachi Shah, and Shrenik Sheth. He directs active research projects funded by grants, including NCN OPUS 2024/53/B/ST5/01407 on fluoroalkyl(thiol)ative functionalizations and NCN OPUS 2019/35/B/ST4/00599 on hydro-/carbofuoromethylation of alkynes.
His research explores Pd-catalyzed multicomponent transformations, fluoroalkylation methodologies, and tandem reaction sequences. Key areas include:
- Mechanistic studies of transition metal-catalyzed reactions
- Regio- and stereoselective functionalization of alkynes
- Development of novel fluoroalkylative difunctionalization strategies
- Synthesis of bioactive molecules and heterocyclic systems
Recent publications (2022-2025) demonstrate strong focus on palladium-catalyzed cyclization/coupling reactions, photoinduced transformations, and fluoroalkylation techniques, with applications in medicinal chemistry and materials science. His work frequently appears in high-impact journals including Angewandte Chemie, ACS Catalysis, and Organic Letters.
Awards:
- Synfacts Award (2016) for innovative work on Pd-catalyzed carboperfluoroalkylation
He actively mentors graduate students and coordinates collaborative projects exploring catalytic reaction design, with ongoing investigations into alkyne functionalization strategies and photochemical activation methods.
