About
Sebastian Stecko serves as Associate Professor and Head of a Scientific Research Group at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences. His work centers on developing innovative synthetic methodologies in organic chemistry with emphasis on stereoselective transformations and catalytic processes.
His research spans [2,3]- and [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangements, transition metal catalysis (Pd, Ni, Co, Cu) for cross-couplings and C-H functionalization, photocatalysis, and the synthesis of complex heterocycles, unnatural amino acids, and bioactive alkaloids. Particular expertise lies in stereocontrolled synthesis of quaternary stereocenters and functionalized allylamines.
Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on photoredox and dual catalytic systems for C-C bond formation, with significant contributions to hydrocarboxylation, Wacker oxidation, and amino acid derivative synthesis. His work bridges fundamental reaction development with applications in bioactive molecule construction.
