Professor Wisia Wedzicha is a Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the National Heart and Lung Institute, part of the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London. She holds affiliations in Airways Disease and the Vaccine Research Network. Her roles include Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, and past Editor-in-Chief of Thorax (2002-2010). She has served on editorial boards of multiple journals, including the Lancet and European Respiratory Society (ERS) publications.
Education: MB BS from Somerville College, Oxford University and St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College, University of London.
Research focuses on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations, bacterial/viral infections in COPD, and public health strategies for respiratory diseases. Directs an active research group in this area with extensive peer-reviewed publications.

Leadership roles include chairing the Home Oxygen Clinical User Group and contributing to NICE COPD Guidelines. Served on the ERS Guidelines Director and Programme Board for COPD National Clinical Strategy.
