Winslow Funaki

Winslow Funaki is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Sculpture at Montserrat College of Art. Her work bridges sculpture, furniture design, and video, focusing on creating 'in-between objects' that resist categorization, reflecting her mixed identity. She holds a BFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design (2016) and an MFA in Furniture Design from RISD (2020). Her art has been exhibited at venues such as Special Special (New York), the RISD Museum, Brown University, and the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.

As an educator, Funaki emphasizes challenging students' ideas, expanding their critical thinking, and fostering engagement with broader artistic communities. Her teaching philosophy intertwines technical skill development with empathy and social responsibility, aiming to cultivate well-rounded creators and citizens.
