Heather McPherson

Heather McPherson is an Associate Professor of studio art at Providence College, specializing in painting, sculpture, and animation. She holds a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis and an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).

McPherson’s research explores the intersection of abstract painting and digital expression, focusing on identity, psychological references, and process-based creation through colorful canvases, low-relief sculptures, and GIF animations. Her recent artworks like Giorgio (2024) and Sparkling Threshold (2024) highlight hybrid techniques merging epoxy, oil paint, and digital media.
