Wilson Mendieta

Wilson Mendieta is an Associate Professor of Dance at the College of Performing Arts, Chapman University. His expertise spans Choreography, Musical Theatre, and Arts Management, with a focus on sustaining careers in the performing arts.

• Education: BFA in Acting (Montclair State University), MFA in Dance (University of Washington), and Nonprofit Management Certificate (Evans School of Public Affairs).

His research explores strategies to support long-term professional development for performing arts students, presented at international conferences in Athens and Hawaii. Mendieta’s choreographic work has been showcased nationwide, including at The Kennedy Center, and internationally in Venezuela and Australia.

Recent projects include choreographing 'Scarlet' (2024) for Chapman’s Big Band Concert. His creative output emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, queer themes, and integration of live music with dance.

Mendieta has held teaching roles at institutions such as the University of Minnesota, Purchase College, Tisch School of Arts, and Fullerton College, alongside leadership as a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts.
