William Tate is Professor of Architectural and Industrial Design in the School of Art, Design and Art History at James Madison University. A licensed architect in Virginia, he holds a Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a BS from Wake Forest University. His professional experience includes work with Legorreta Arquitectos, Robert Collins Architects, and Odell Associates, and he maintains an active practice through DeNada Architects in Staunton, VA.
His scholarly work focuses on:
- The history and theory of modern architecture
- Pedagogical approaches in design education
- Architectural representation techniques
- Urban design and landscape architecture frameworks
He has presented extensively on design pedagogy and meaning in architectural practice and participated in numerous design competitions.
