William R. Heineman is a distinguished academic and researcher in analytical chemistry and electrochemistry at the University of Cincinnati, where he holds the rank of Distinguished Research Professor and serves as Head of the Department of Chemistry. He received his BS in Chemistry from Texas Tech University (1964) and his PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1968), under Prof. Royce Murray.
