Willard Pate is a Professor of English at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Specializing in Southern literature, he teaches and researches works by authors like Faulkner, O'Connor, Welty, and Walker. His upbringing in small-town Georgia deeply influences his literary focus. Beyond academia, Pate is a renowned photographer, shooting exclusively in black and white. His work has been exhibited nationally/internationally and is featured in permanent collections at Furman University, Hartsfield Jackson Airport, and MOCA Georgia.
