Will Kitchen

Will Kitchen is a Visiting Tutor at Bournemouth Film School and Online Tutor for MA Creative Writing at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB). He holds a PhD and MA in Film Studies from the University of Southampton, along with teaching qualifications including FHEA (Fellow of the Higher Education Academy). His research focuses on intersections of film, cultural capital, and romantic critique, with notable works like Culture, Capital and Carnival (2025) and Film, Negation and Freedom (2023). He co-edits a special issue on 'Transnational Pop Culture and Work' for Discover Global Society (Springer Nature), alongside Professor Anja Louis.

Key roles include membership on the Executive Committee of the British Association of Film, Television and Screen Studies (BAFTSS) and the Environment and Sustainability Committee at AUB. He has secured AHRC funding for projects on 'Pop Culture and Leadership' and contributed to academic reviews for the South West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership. Awards include the 2016 Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship from the University of Southampton.

Teaching spans Animation Production at AUB, Creative Writing, and courses at the University of Southampton and University of Chichester. His research bridges film theory, critical philosophy (e.g., Rancière, Benjamin), and contemporary cultural studies, with publications analyzing capitalism's representation in media and transnational pop culture dynamics.
