Dr. Ruby Cheung is an Associate Professor in Film Studies at the University of Southampton, serving as Director of Postgraduate Film Programmes and Convenor of the MA Film and Cultural Management. She holds leadership roles in university committees across School, Faculty, and University levels. Her research focuses on East Asian cinemas, particularly Hong Kong's indie cinema and film festivals. Notably, she won the 2024 BAFTSS Best Monograph Award for Hong Kong’s New Indie Cinema. She leads international research networks and edits major film studies publications like The Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of World Cinema. Her teaching spans undergraduate to PhD levels in international film industries.
