Wendy Williams

Wendy Williams, PhD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Pedagogical Advancement and Evaluation at the Department of Community Health Sciences, School of Public Health, SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She specializes in public health communication, leveraging her expertise in cultural anthropology and interactive technology to support distance education learners.

Education:

• PhD in Cultural Anthropology from The Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York (CUNY)
• Certificate in Interactive Technology and Pedagogy from CUNY

Research Focus: Her work examines the intersection of communication technologies and immigrant experiences, particularly among recent Chinese immigrants in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. This research informs her pedagogical approaches in public health education and distance learning frameworks.

Teaching & Advising: She teaches CHSC 5316: Communication Skills for Public Health and serves as a liaison for online-only students, ensuring their access to institutional resources and fostering academic engagement.
