Dame Wendy Hall is a Professor of Computer Science and former Dean (2010–2014) of the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Engineering at the University of Southampton, UK. She leads the Web Science Institute and previously headed the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) (2002–2007). Her research focuses on Multimedia, Hypermedia, Semantic Web, and interdisciplinary links between life and physical sciences.
- Elected to the Royal Society (2009) and awarded DBE (2009).
- Served as ACM President (2008–2010) and Vice-President (2006–2008).
- Member of the UK Prime Minister’s Science and Technology Council (2004–2010) and European Research Council Scientific Council (2005–2010).
Her work bridges technology with societal impact, including co-founding the Web Science Research Initiative (WSRI, 2006). Awards include the Anita Borg Technical Leadership Award (2006) and CBE (2000).
