Wendy Brown is the Class of 1936 First Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley, where she has taught since 1999, and concurrently serves as Professor at The European Graduate School (EGS). She earned her PhD from Princeton University in 1983, with prior academic appointments at UC Santa Cruz and Williams College.
Her research critically examines contemporary capitalism through interdisciplinary lenses including:
- Neoliberalism's impact on democratic institutions
- Political theory spanning Continental philosophy and critical theory
- Sovereignty transformations in global politics
- Paradoxes of tolerance in modern societies
- Historical analyses of social power structures
