Wendy Arons is a Professor of Dramatic Literature at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama, where she joined the faculty in 2007. She serves as Area Chair for Dramaturgy and Director of the Center for the Arts in Society. Arons’s research focuses on performance and ecology, 18th- to 19th-century theatre history, feminist theater, and German theater traditions.
- Co-editor of Readings in Performance and Ecology (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012)
- Co-translator of G. E. Lessing’s Hamburg Dramaturgy, recipient of the 2018 ATHE/ASTR Award for Excellence in Digital Scholarship
Her scholarship appears in journals such as Theatre Survey, The German Quarterly, and Contemporary Women’s Playwriting. She is currently co-series editor for the four-volume History of Women’s Innovations in Theater, Dance, and Performance (Bloomsbury Methuen). Arons also maintains a blog, The Pittsburgh Tatler, where she writes about theater and culture.
