Sandra Daley is an Academic Professor of Dramatic Writing at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Savannah, GA, since 2021. She also served as an Adjunct Professor in Acting and Playwriting at Sarah Lawrence College (2021) and has extensive experience in arts education and theater production. Her educational background includes an M.F.A. in Playwriting from Hunter College, a B.S. in Marketing: Fashion from the Fashion Institute of Technology, and an A.A. in Fashion Merchandising from Brooks College.
Her research interests focus on dramatic writing, theater arts, and supporting emerging Black playwrights. She has led initiatives like the Liberation Theatre Company, which nurtures diverse playwrights, and co-founded HARLEM9, a theater collective advancing Harlem's arts scene. Daley has produced award-winning plays and directed workshops, emphasizing community engagement through the arts.
Daley's awards include semifinalist recognitions in the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Playwrights Conference (2021, 2017) and the Princess Grace Playwriting Fellowship (2019). She has also received grants and fellowships, including a NYFA Fellowship finalist placement (2013).
Her professional roles include producing artistic director of Liberation Theatre Company (2007–2021), dramaturg for 1to1 Dramaturgy and Beehive Dramaturgy Studio (2012–2021), and executive producer of plays like The Silver Thread (2012). She has also consulted on arts programming for NYC high schools and youth organizations.
