Weihua Wang

Weihua Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at Southern University. With a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University (2006) and a Bachelor's Degree from Jiangsu Institute of Chemical Technology, China (1992), her research focuses on two key areas: Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) and Biocompatible Fluorescent Dendrimers.

Her work on Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) explores these green solvents' formation mechanisms, physicochemical properties, and applications in thermal energy storage, biomolecule/drug solubilization. She investigates both thermal and freeze-drying preparation methods, emphasizing DES's advantages over traditional ionic liquids through charge delocalization studies.

In her Biocompatible Fluorescent Dendrimer research, inspired by green fluorescent proteins, she develops dendrimers with internal and surface fluorophores for biological sensing applications like protein labeling. This work builds on decades of dendrimer research while innovating for biomedical uses through structural modifications.
