Wathsala Karunarathne

Wathsala Karunarathne is a Research Fellow in the Teletraffic Research Centre at University of Adelaide. Her research develops mathematical models for optimization problems in telecommunications, infrastructure, and space systems.

Research focus areas:

• Algorithms for satellite maneuver detection and classification
• Queueing system optimization with scheduling constraints
• Stochastic modeling of network traffic patterns
• Metaheuristic approaches for feature selection

Her doctoral research at University of Melbourne examined scheduling in queueing systems, and she has since contributed to projects on time series forecasting and distributed sensor networks. Current work involves pattern recognition in satellite telemetry data and optimization of resource-constrained systems.
