Dr Wasiu Are is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social and Political Science at the University of Chester, UK. He joined in 2019, previously teaching at University College Dublin and the University of Exeter. His research focuses on applied microeconomics, income inequality, tax reform, and economic growth. He teaches modules on economics fundamentals, industrial economics, and economic development. He leads supervision on fertility decline and contraception access in Sub-Saharan Africa. He holds a PhD in Economics from University College Dublin (2012) and multiple academic certifications. His recent work explores oil-market impacts on food security and U.S. consumption asymmetry.
