Nora M. Strecker is an Assistant Professor in the School of Economics at University College Dublin (UCD) since 2020 and an Ad Astra Fellow since 2022. She also serves as the PhD Programme Director at UCD. Her research focuses on public finance, personal income taxation, international trade, welfare economics, and political economy, with publications in top journals such as the American Economic Review and Journal of International Economics. She holds a PhD in Economics from ETH Zurich (2017) and degrees from New York University.
Affiliations: CEPR (International Trade & Regional Economics), SKATTEFORSK (Tax Research), Irish Public Economics Network, and managing editor of the German Economic Review.
Research Interests: Globalization's impact on tax structures, income taxation and inequality, and the transition from tariff-based to tax-reliant economies. Current projects include studying how income taxation affects global inequality and the economic implications of shifting from tariff-dependent to tax-based revenue systems.
Awards: Ad Astra Fellow (University College Dublin).
Professional Activities: Co-chair of the Irish Public Economics Network, member of the Verein für Socialpolitik, and contributor to policy evaluations like Ireland's pandemic response panel.
