Warren Chin

Warren Chin is a Senior Lecturer in the Defence Studies Department at the Defence Academy of the UK (Shrivenham campus). His roles include teaching international politics, war strategy, and military history, alongside academic leadership positions such as Editor of the Defence Studies Journal and former Director of Academic Support at the Royal College of Defence Studies. He has held prior appointments at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (1995-1999) and London Guildhall University (1992-1995).

Research focuses on terrorism, counterinsurgency, and future conflict dynamics. Current projects include a book on UK counterterrorism strategy and environmental security linkages. He leads the Environmental Security research group, bridging security studies and environmental issues.

Teaching expertise spans defence economics, British defence policy, and master’s programs in international studies. Grants/contracts include MOD-sponsored policy analysis and Pentagon advisory work.
