Prof. Wang Hong-zen is a Visiting Professor from the Department of Sociology at National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung. His research focuses on transnational migration, social stratification, and labor issues in East Asia. During his visit to the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan (Oct 20–Nov 15, 2016), he contributed to studies on cross-border marriages, ethnic labor dynamics, and public sociological discourse.
His research interests include sociological analysis of migration patterns, gender-based violence, and the intersection of state policies with labor rights. Notable works include Politics of Difference in Taiwan (2011) and co-authored studies on Taiwanese business networks in Southeast Asia. He has been recognized with the William L. Holland Prize for his 2005 article on Taiwanese factories in China and Vietnam.
Prof. Wang’s publications bridge sociological theory with empirical studies, addressing topics such as domestic violence counseling’s class implications and the governance of migrant workers. His interdisciplinary approach emphasizes the role of sociology in public knowledge dissemination.
