Walther Ploos van Amstel

Dr. Walther Ploos van Amstel is a Lecturer in City Logistics at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences since 2014. He also teaches at TIAS Business School and the Executive Master of Operations and Supply Chain Management (MOS) programs at the University of Amsterdam and Maastricht. His research focuses on logistics process innovations, supply chain management, intermodal networks, and risk management in logistics chains.

He holds a PhD from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (2002) on logistics manager performance. Previously, he was a Professor of Logistics at the Netherlands Defence Academy (2002–2009). He has authored books such as *Logistics, Purchasing, Working with Distribution Logistics* and *Practical Handbook of Supply Chain Management*.

Walther has served on high-profile juries, including the Dutch Logistics Award and JongTLN Award, and contributes to organizations like the RLI, LOI, and AGV Water Board. He chairs VVE Pontsteiger and is a commissioner at Taxi Centrale Amsterdam.

His articles, such as the 2013 piece on future European transport challenges, highlight his engagement with strategic logistics issues. Despite no listed awards for himself, his advisory roles reflect his industry influence.
