W. Geoff Gjertson

W. Geoff Gjertson, AIA, is a Professor of Architecture at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he has taught since 2000. He co-directs the Building Institute, a design/build program focused on sustainable community projects, including homes for Habitat for Humanity. His work integrates academic and professional practice, resulting in over $3.4 million in grants and contributions to community development.

Gjertson's research emphasizes architectural pedagogy, sustainable design, and community-driven projects. The Building Institute, co-founded in 2003, has executed over $2 million in urban neighborhood developments. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and authored contributions to books on educational design/build methodologies.
