Vladimir Rufino is a Brazilian-Canadian violinist and faculty member at the MacEwan University Conservatory of Music and Mount Royal University Conservatory of Music. He holds a Doctor of Music from the University of Alberta (Canada), a Master of Music and Artist Certificate from Azusa Pacific University (USA), and a Bachelor of Music from Universidade Federal da Paraíba (Brazil). His mentors include Yerko Pinto Tabilo and Charles Stegeman.
His research interests and professional activities focus on violin performance, chamber music, and the exploration of Brazilian classical compositions. Vladimir has performed internationally with renowned orchestras and ensembles such as the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Vaughan String Quartet, which released its debut CD in 2018. He is also first violinist of the Vaughan String Quartet and has collaborated with groups like the Quartet Quarta Dimensão and Camerata Brasílica.
In addition to performance, Vladimir actively contributes to music education and adjudication, serving as a judge for festivals and competitions in Alberta. His work bridges traditional classical repertoire with contemporary Brazilian compositions, reflecting his cultural heritage and artistic versatility.
