Vladimir Bulović is the Fariborz Maseeh (1990) Professor of Emerging Technology and Associate Dean for Innovation at the MIT School of Engineering. He leads the Organic and Nanostructured Electronics Laboratory (ONE Lab) and co-directs the eni-MIT Solar Frontiers Center and MIT Innovation Initiative. His research focuses on nanostructured materials, optoelectronic devices, and thin-film technologies, with applications in LEDs, solar cells, photodetectors, and quantum dot components.
Bulović holds a M.S. from Columbia University (1993) and a Ph.D. from Princeton University (1998). He has authored over 140 papers and holds 50+ patents, many commercialized through startups like QD Vision, Kateeva, and Ubiquitous Energy. His honors include the U.S. Presidential Early Career Award, MIT’s Margaret MacVicar Faculty Fellowship, and SEMI North America Award.
His lab develops scalable nanotechnologies for next-gen optoelectronics, including paper-thin solar cells, vertical micro-LEDs, and transparent loudspeakers. His work bridges fundamental science and industry, fostering innovation through partnerships with companies like VIAVI Solutions and MIT.nano consortium members.
