Virginia Spate is the Power Professor of Fine Art at the University of Sydney and previously held the Slade Professorship at the University of Cambridge's Department of History of Art (1998-99). Her research focuses on Russian and Soviet art, particularly the Vitebsk People’s Art School and Unovis movement. She co-organized an international conference on these topics through the Cambridge Courtauld Russian Art Centre (CCRAC), collaborating with the Van Abbemuseum.
