Dr Vinutha Shetty is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Medical School, Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at Perth Children’s Hospital, and Senior Research Fellow at the Telethon Kids Institute. She leads the exercise research theme at the Children’s Diabetes Centre and focuses on improving diabetes management through exercise interventions in adolescents. Her research spans Type 1 Diabetes, exercise physiology, and clinical guidelines.
**Education:** PhD (2020, UWA), MD (1997, University of Mumbai), MBBS (1992, University of Mysore).
**Research Interests:** Her work explores exercise-induced glucose regulation, digital health solutions for diabetes management, and optimizing physical activity guidelines for youth with chronic conditions. She has published 19 peer-reviewed articles and secured grants exceeding $10M, including JDRF and Telethon funding.
**Awards:** Finalist for CAHS Telethon Pitch (2021), APEG Young Investigator (2014), and multiple RACP awards for research excellence.
**Grants & Mentoring:** Principal Investigator for grants on digital solutions and exercise interventions. Supervised 17 trainees and students across Curtin University and UWA. Current mentoring includes 2 UWA medical students.
**Affiliations:** Children’s Diabetes Centre (PCH/Telethon Kids Institute), global collaborations in pediatric endocrinology.
