About
Vincent van Hinsberg is Associate Professor and Osisko Faculty Scholar at McGill University, specializing in fluid-mineral interactions and experimental petrology. His laboratory develops methods to extract fluid composition data from mineral signatures.
Research examines element cycling in subduction zones, volcanic fluid chemistry, and early Earth environments. Current projects focus on tourmaline as a geochemical recorder and metal transport in hydrothermal systems.
He directs the FlexPet experimental facility simulating crust to mantle conditions and teaches metamorphic petrology and geostatistics. Fieldwork spans Greenland, Indonesia, and the French Massif Central.
