Dr. Vincent O Flaherty is a Lecturer in the Department of Sports, Media, and Marketing at South East Technological University (SETU). He holds an external role as an External Examiner at the Technological University of the Shannon from September 2021 to September 2026. With over 20 years of experience across business, education, and sport, his career combines academic and industry expertise.
His PhD research focused on the career decision-making processes of Irish underage international footballers, employing careership theory and integrating frameworks from Pierre Bourdieu, Jean Côté, Schlossberg, and Scanlon & Doyle. This work examines structural and agency factors influencing athletes' transitions to professional careers.

He previously lectured at Technological University Dublin and worked with organizations like Rugby Players Ireland (collaborating with international rugby players and Leinster Rugby).
