Dr. Victoria Vickerstaff is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Statistics at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health, Queen Mary University of London, and a member of the Centre for Evaluation and Methods within Barts Clinical Trials Unit. She holds an honorary Associate Professor appointment at UCL. Her primary affiliations include Queen Mary’s Wolfson Institute and Barts Clinical Trials Unit, with collaborative roles in the Centre for Psychiatry and Mental Health at QMUL.
Her research focuses on medical statistics, clinical trials, and epidemiology across cancer detection, dementia, and mental health. Notable projects include the TRANSFORM prostate cancer screening trial and collaborations on dementia and old-age psychiatry. She has extensive experience in trial design/analysis, contributing to national/international studies in oncology, neurology, and mental health.
Her statistical methodologies emphasize multiple outcomes in clinical trials, as seen in her 2019 BMC Methods paper. She serves on clinical trial steering committees and data safety monitoring boards, and contributes to MSc programmes at QMUL. Supervised PhD students include Alice Burnand (delirium management in dementia) and Katie Flanagan (virtual reality in hospice care).
Previously, she worked at UCL’s Priment Clinical Trials Unit and the Research Support Service, aiding grant proposals. Her work bridges statistical rigor with clinical impact, particularly in oncology and geriatric care.
