Victor Portela

Victor Portela is a Lecturer in Immersive Environments at the School of Simulation and Visualisation. He holds a background in computer engineering and specializes in VR/AR technologies, with a focus on Unity and XR systems. Since 2013, he has contributed to teaching and curriculum development, including the BSc in Immersive Systems program. His current research involves the EPSRC-funded ARTICULAR project, advancing immersive technologies.

Dr. Portela’s work spans academic and applied domains, integrating simulation, visualization, and game engine frameworks. He has developed modules on Unity and XR, reflecting his commitment to bridging theoretical and practical aspects of immersive systems. Professional projects include contributions to the Digital Health & Care Institute and Highlands and Islands Enterprise initiatives.
