About
Dr. Vi Vu is an Adjunct Professor in Mechanical Engineering at San Diego State University's College of Engineering. Her research focuses on cardiovascular bioengineering, specifically blood flow interactions with medical implants like prosthetic heart valves and ventricular assist devices at the Cardiovascular Bioengineering Lab. Previously, she served as an ORISE fellow at the FDA's Division of Biomedical Physics and as a lecturer at SDSU.
Her work utilizes in vitro setups to model blood flow-device interactions. Current research explores hemodynamic performance optimization and thrombosis prevention in cardiovascular implants. She mentors students in experimental biomechanics and device testing methodologies.
Education includes a Ph.D. from the UCSD-SDSU Joint Doctoral Program. Professional collaborations extend to clinical partners for translational medical device development.
