Veronique Lane

Veronique Lane is a Lecturer in French Studies and Comparative Literature at Lancaster University's School of Global Affairs since 2017. She specializes in translation theory, cognitive studies, and medical humanities, with a focus on mental health intersections and therapeutic applications of translation.

Her research explores the pragmatics of translation through cognitive and medical humanities lenses, particularly examining how translation processes affect identity formation and cognition in neurodivergent individuals. She has edited the first book on literary back-translation (Edinburgh UP, 2025) and is completing a monograph on translation and mental health.

Veronique supervises MA dissertations and co-supervises three PhD theses while leading workshops on cognitive improvement for schizophrenia patients. Her published work spans modernist translation analysis (focusing on Hölderlin, Nerval, Woolf, Proust, Eliot, H.D., and Artaud) and collaborative research with international scholars across disciplines.
