Vera Borrmann

Vera Borrmann is a researcher at the Human-Technology Interaction Lab within the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg.

Education:

Research Focus: Her work centers on embodiment, phenomenology, and artistic research through intercultural and interdisciplinary lenses. She investigates the body, self, and perception while exploring empathy, embodied emotion, and creativity at the intersection of philosophy, art, and technology.

Professional Background: Previously contributed to projects on human enhancement, lived body theory, body modification, trans- and posthumanism, future bodies, synthetic biology, and emerging technologies at KIT's Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis and Vienna's Institute for Technology Assessment. Served as research associate in the Agency and Neurotechnology project of the Saltus! Group Responsible Artificial Intelligence.

Current Affiliation: Actively engaged with the Human-Technology Interaction Lab, advancing research on neurotechnology and human experience within Freiburg's academic ecosystem.
