Vanessa Rousseau

Vanessa Rousseau is an Adjunct Professor in Art History at the University of St. Thomas, holding joint appointments in the Departments of Art History and Classics. She specializes in the art and archaeology of the Ancient-Medieval Mediterranean, with research focusing on cross-cultural exchange during the Late Antique period. Additional expertise includes object authentication, exhibition development, and analysis of antiquities trade networks.

Rousseau serves as the Wall Paintings Specialist for the Archaeological Exploration of Sardis and Antiquities Consultant for the Weisman Art Museum. Her publications examine topics including Sasanian royal iconography, Byzantine imperial symbols, and preservation of Late Antique wall paintings. Current courses include Explorations in Art History and graduate-level art historiography.
