Philip Rolnick is a Professor of Theology at the University of St. Thomas, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. He specializes in ancient-medieval Mediterranean art and archaeology with expertise in object authenticity, looting, and antiquities trade. Rolnick serves as president of the Minnesota Archaeological Institute of America and as Antiquities Consultant for the Weisman Art Museum.
His research examines cultural exchange in Late Antique art, particularly wall paintings and religious artifacts. Current projects include analyzing cross-cultural influences in Byzantine and Sasanian art. He teaches courses including Foundations of Christianity and interdisciplinary theology-science honors seminars.
