Van Lac is an Associate Professor in Educational Policy Studies. She holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, a master’s from Stanford University, and a bachelor’s from UC Berkeley. Her research focuses on fostering racial consciousness among K-12 students and leaders through participatory action research with minoritized communities. Previously, she taught English for eight years in Richmond, California, in an under-resourced school serving Black and Latinx students.
