Dr. Valeria Morales is a Doctoral Researcher at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) Institute for Latin America Studies and a Professor at the University of Costa Rica and the State University at a Distance. Her work focuses on the political determinants of public health policy, particularly the politics of COVID-19 vaccination in Central America.

Her current research is part of the GLACIER project, which examines vaccination policies across Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean through interdisciplinary collaboration. She also contributes to policy analysis at the Center for Research and Political Studies (CIEP UCR).
